SX20 Stopped-Flow Spectrometer Accessories - Boosted Deuterium Light Source
UV.1 Boosted Deuterium Light Source
The UV.1 is a powerful deuterium light source. The profile of the lamp spectrum is such that the UV output is much enhanced with respect to the visible output; this leads to a reduction in stray light contamination of the far-UV, making this an ideal source for use with the UV version of the PDA.1 photodiode-array detector. With the combination of the UV.1 and the UV PDA.1, accurate, time dependent, spectra between 200nm and 400nm can be obtained.
The deuterium source power supply unit and lamp assembly
Designed to compliment the UV photodiode array detector option PDA.1, the boosted deuterium light source allows collection of time-dependent spectra in the far-UV wavelength region. Option UV.1 is designed for PDA.1 measurements in the range 200-400nm compared with 285-725nm using the standard xenon light source.
Enhanced UV Region Performance
The figure (below) shows the deuterium and xenon lamp spectra. As can be seen, the UV.1 source has intense emission in the UV region and it is essential for PDA.1 measurements below 290nm.
Other features include:
- Simple mounting to the SHU cell block
- Simple and rapid reconfiguration between xenon and deuterium light sources
- Adjustable current setting on power supply for signal-to-noise optimisation
- Pre-aligned lamps
- Ozone-free operation
