Louise Madden

Chief Executive Officer

Louise joined Applied Photophysics as Commercial Director in March 2014. Louise’s brief is to build upon the successful growth of the Applied Photophysics business to date, both organically and through the expansion of its current product portfolio, so maintaining the Company’s market leadership in its chosen fields.

Louise brings with her 10 years of experience within the analytical instruments business having spent time in both the UK and Scandinavia, working with Farfield Group Limited and Biolin Scientific AB. Before this, she spent 11 years at KPMG, where her clients ranged from owner-managed businesses to multi-national PLCs. Louise has also, during this time, gained extensive experience of mergers and acquisitions.

Koos van der Steuijt

Global Sales Director

Koos joined Applied Photophysics from VWR Singapore Pte Ltd, where he was Vice President, General Manager Singapore and China. In this role he was responsible for P&L in China and Singapore where he achieved double digit growth of sales. Previously he held several senior management roles at Thermo Fisher Scientific, including Vice President, General Manager Korea, Vice President, General Manager India and Commercial European Business Unit Director Molecular/Surface Analysis.

Stuart Wood

Operations Director

Stuart joined Applied Photophysics in 2017, bringing with him over 20 years of experience in a variety of senior positions within Operations.  His most recent role as Head of Business Excellence at Oxford Instruments saw him leading the development and implementation of a continuous improvement programme throughout Europe, Asia and North America.  It was while working here that Stuart was recognized for his talents in operations management by being named in the ‘Lean Top 25’ report, which celebrates outstanding individuals in lean and continuous improvement.  Prior to this he has worked in consultancy and production & engineering.

Sue Cresswell

Marketing Manager

Sue brings a wealth of experience in life science marketing and market communication. Familiar with working in multi-national environments, she has demonstrated success in introducing new companies and technologies to the global life science market and driven the transition of established biotech tools companies from technological- to commercially-focused organisations. She has established two successful market communications agencies, and was previously Market Communications Director at Biacore SA (now GE Healthcare), where she played a key role in returning the Company into a profitable business, leading to its acquisition.

Lindsay Cole

Chief Scientific Officer (C.S.O)

Lindsay Cole joined Applied Photophysics in 2007 as an applications scientist working in the R&D department. During this time he has played a major role in the development of our Chirascan CD spectrometer platform. Lindsay’s first major contribution to the Company was in the design and development of the CS/SX stopped-flow accessory. He was also deeply involved with the DMS application for the Chirascan V100 CD instrument. His most significant achievement so far has been as the project leader on the development of the Chirascan Q100.

Lindsay gained his PhD from the University of New England in Australia before undertaking Post-Doctoral research at the University of Michigan, USA, and the University of York, UK.

Faye Pierce

Quality & Business Information Systems Manager

Faye Pierce has been working at Applied Photophysics since 2011 and is responsible for leading the Company's Quality and IT departments. During her time as Quality & Business Information Systems Manager, she has overhauled the IT and Quality infrastructure of the company, implementing robust and scalable systems. Quality is very important to Applied Photophysics and Faye looks to improve the company standards by continually striving towards high levels of customer satisfaction.

Matt Pope

Customer Support Manager

Matt Pope joined Applied Photophysics in 2000 as an Applications Scientist and has led the Customer Support Group since 2005. Matt’s raison d’être is to deliver complete customer satisfaction and he travels extensively to all six continents annually to ensure that Applied Photophysics’ support aims are achieved.

Matt gained his PhD in Chemistry at the University of Reading where Applied Photophysics equipment was at the core of his research.

Jason McClounan

Finance Manager and Company Secretary

Jason joined Applied Photophysics in 2017, bringing with him over 15 years of experience, from transactional accounting to leading a team of Accountants within an Operational Finance Function.  Jason brings a wealth of knowledge of working within PLCs and LTD Companies with mergers and acquisitions and during other periods of substantial growth.  His proven eye for detail and desire to continually improve and implement new business processes will prove to be key to the ongoing growth of Applied Photophysics.
