Comparison of Protein Homologues

by Comprehensive Near-UV CD Experiments

A Chirascan case study.

Zuberek Et Al

This study examined binding of the mRNA 5' cap to the translation initiation factor eIF4E.

Comprehensive near-UV CD data revealed differences between protein homologues from human (H. sapiens), fly (D. melanogaster), and yeast (S. cerevisiae).

Homologue-dependent spectral contributions from tryptophan residues Trp56 and Trp102 that are located in the cap binding site reflected different orientations upon binding.
